Simulate before acting: integration, handling, analysis

3D simulation overlays a project or a new piece of equipment onto the scanned existing asset to validate an integration, a handling operation or an assembly before the works. Fitting equipment into a saturated space, de-risking a delicate handling operation, checking clearances before reassembly: we overlay the project onto the scanned existing asset to decide on hard facts, not on an estimate.

Describe my need

When we step in

  • Validate the feasibility of integrating new equipment into an existing installation
  • De-risk a complex handling operation before launching it
  • Check the internal clearances of a mechanism through a virtual trial assembly
  • Assess strength, deformation, thermal behaviour or CFD

How we work

  1. Model. Scan of the existing asset + import of the project or equipment CAD model.
  2. Overlay. 3D integration, checking of clearances, accessibility, constructability.
  3. Simulation. Handling, trial assembly, finite-element (FE) analysis, CFD or thermal.
  4. Decision. Support for design review and internal / external communication.

What you walk away with

  • 3D integration study (feasibility, clearances, access)
  • Handling simulation / virtual trial assembly
  • FE analyses: strength, deformation
  • Project communication material (visuals, animations)

Real-world case

Major shutdown of a 10 m extruder

On a 10 m extruder (two Ø 400 mm screws) during a major shutdown: 3D scan of the new critical parts in stores (state-zero baseline to quantify future wear), survey of the blocks before dismantling, scan of the functional surfaces in the workshop, then virtual 3D reassembly of the blocks to anticipate the shimming, shimming assistance during reassembly, and hot verification 2 weeks after return to production. Little left to chance.

Frequently asked questions

What types of simulation do you carry out?

Strength and deformation by finite elements, handling simulations, removal/refitting of equipment in complex environments.

Can you validate an integration before installation?

Yes — a frequent case: we scan the environment, import the CAD of the new equipment and check the clearances and accessibility.

What is a virtual trial assembly for?

To check the residual clearances of a mechanism and de-risk the renovation or modification of complex machines, without any physical dismantling.

Who does the work

SCAD Engineering — 15 years of industrial 3D scanning. Work led by a senior engineer. MASE certification No. 2024-411 (Seveso / ATEX sites). France & abroad.
